Gilles Binchois was generally accounted one of the two finest Franco-Flemish composers of the first half of the 15th century, and both more quixotic and boastful than his compatriot, Guillaume Dufay. Binchois was bold and original in his music and the texts of his songs, though this recording focuses instead on mass movements and motets. They demonstrate his unfailing ingenuity, and gift for melody.
